Sir Thomas McIlwraith (1835-1900) was one of four directors of the Queensland Investment and Land Mortage Co. when, in 1892, the London directors charged them with fraud. After 55 days in the Supreme Court the presiding judge, Sir Charles Lilley, discharged the jury and found in favour of the plaintiffs.
